University of South Carolina Partners with Category Management Association
to offer Category Management Curriculum.

August 16th, 2019, Bloomington, MN

Today, the University of South Carolina announced a new Partnership with the Category Management Association (CMA) and Shopper Insights Management Association (SIMA). The professional organizations will assist the school in building a best-in-class Category Management Curriculum for University of South Carolina’s College of Hospitality, Retail and Sports Management.

Headquartered in Bloomington, MN, CMA and SIMA specialize in certification and best practices for category managers and shopper insights professionals. In February, the CMA and SIMA added industry-leading training to their list of services, when they entered into an exclusive partnership with Canada’s Category Management Knowledge Group (CMKG). This move consolidated all training and certification services for the professions under one roof.

The most recent partnership with the University of South Carolina supports CMA and SIMA’s ongoing commitment to support higher education in the discipline, provide new sources of talent for their membership and support the future of the profession.

University of South Carolina’s College of Hospitality, Retail and Sports Management will provide accredited CMKG training to prepare “work ready” talent for careers in the Consumer Packaged Goods and Retail Grocery Industry. CMA and SIMA will provide additional guidance for shaping and steering the program.

CMA Vice President of Certification and Education Dan Strunk will be working hands-on with the university to implement this new curriculum. SIMA President Leslie Warshaw and CMKG President Sue Nicholls will also be highly involved in shaping the class-leading program. Several other schools are expected to announce participation next month.
