The best way to understand the motivations behind why someone got category management certified, is to ASK! Hear from this month’s feature on their certification experience.

Meet Jeffrey Fannin with Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits!

What is your current role?
I’m currently a Category Manager at Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits.

What level certification did you achieve?
I just received the Certified Professional Category Analyst certification.

Why did you decide to get certified?
I decided to get certified for personal development reasons, and recommendations from my professors. I originally completed the coursework for the CPCA certification when attending UT Tyler, but never took the certification test. When I joined Southern Glazer’s as a Category Manager I decided to begin pursuing all 3 Category Management certification levels to improve my knowledge of category management, and become a better category manager.

What do you hope to improve/achieve in your current role due to the addition of your certification?
I hope to continue to develop a strong relationship with my business partners by showing my commitment to being a better category manager. I also hope to implement the various analytical tools I’ve learned through the coursework for each certification.

Any additional comments on your experience?
I took the coursework for the CPCA certification through Learning Evolution. The coursework was very in depth and helped me pass the exam. I really enjoyed the flexibility of scheduling the exam to work into my schedule instead of working my schedule around the exam. The exam itself was easy to navigate and challenged my knowledge of the CPCA coursework. Now I am looking forward to earning the CPCM certification!

Thanks for sharing your experience with us, Jeffrey!
