HIVERY Curate is a category management solution that leverages Artificial intelligence and highly advanced operations research techniques to optimize shelf space and assortment – reducing the time involved in category relays from months to hours. HIVERY Curate incorporates our clients’ unique business rules and constraints, allowing them to simulate strategic scenarios with accuracy and reliability while guaranteeing executable store-specific recommendations. HIVERY Curate was built by incorporating the insights and experience of actual category managers and retail merchants from the largest CPG manufacturers and retailers.

Across multiple categories, our clients have experienced significant incremental sales growth by optimizing assortment and space at the micro cluster and store level, while reducing the time associated with both assortment analysis and planogram generation.

What is the most exciting thing you are working on right now?

Beyond category management, we are working with marketing and sales teams to predict the incrementality of new item launches, price changes, and SKU rationalization efforts to determine the financial impact on the brand portfolio and retailer’s category.

Where do you feel you’ve been helping clients make the most impact during the pandemic? How have you adjusted to meet their needs?

There are a number of categories that have experienced significant growth during the pandemic (e.g. cleaning and disinfectant categories, center store grocery categories as more people are cooking at home vs. eating out, among many other examples). Conversely, there are categories that have experienced a decline as a result of the pandemic given that shoppers and consumers are not going out in public as often (e.g. cosmetics, gum, breath mints, among others).

HIVERY has helped our clients assess which items require less space and which require more space in the short term. In particular, high demand for certain items and categories have resulted in supply issues. We have assisted clients in determining which items should fill any space voids in the short term.

Lastly, manufacturers and retailers want to better predict what will happen post-pandemic. We leverage historical data time periods and new innovation plans to predict the future space and assortment needs associated with categories that will soon return to pre-pandemic consumer demand as consumers return to work, eating out, and spending more time with friends.

How have you been helping clients adjust to new & growing omnichannel dynamics?

Due to the pandemic, consumer / shopper behavior has dramatically shifted to purchasing online for pick up at the store or purchasing online for delivery to home. HIVERY Curate incorporates item level purchases in store, as well as items purchased online for pick up at store. This enables retailers and manufacturers to collaborate on strategies to optimize space for categories that are heavily purchase online versus those that are purchased in store, including the store specific assortment and inventory required to ensure these items are available for the shopper at the time of purchase.

Why did your company feel it was important to have a sponsorship presence at the 2021 CMA|SIMA Conference?

This important conference allows us to educate our current and prospective clients on the future of category management, as well as to share best practices with regard to how category managers and their retailer counterparts can collaborate to maximize sales and reduce costs by leveraging the latest technology for assortment and space optimization.
