Look at the Certification Standards document located below. This provides detail of the skills required for each level of certification. You may feel that you could pass the CPCA exam without taking any additional courses or you may choose to proceed with coursework.
Please note: some training partners offer products that will help determine the best path for you based on your current skillset.
After reading through the Standards document, you have two options:
- Register and Schedule your CPCA exam: You will need to register to become certified which requires you to log into our website (www.categorymanagementassociation.org/). For instructions, go to ‘How to Register’ below.
- View the list of certified training partners and reach out to whomever you choose for available classes. Once coursework is completed, you would register and schedule your exam as instructed above.
Once you pass the test, you are officially CPCA certified. We send you a certificate and a ribbon to use in your email signature line. You may retake a failed exam ($50 fee) after 30 days.
Choose to persue the CPCM certification level. Keep in mind that there is a renewal fee of $125/year to keep your certification valid.
How to Register
First Time Users: Please go to the “My Certifications” tab. You will be asked to pay a ONE-TIME registration fee of $95.00. Once this has been completed, and submitted, you will receive a Welcome email which will include a brief explanation about the CMA Certification program. It will ask you to complete your USER PROFILE and will include details on how to take your first test.
Registered Users: If you wish to attempt an exam, you will be asked to purchase an Exam (test) code. The complete details are available under the Registered User tab on your portal home page.
Upon completion of the purchase of a specific certification level test code, you will receive a TEST INSTRUCTION email that will include a confirmation of your purchase, provide you with confirmation code/authorization codes and a test link. It will also inform you that you will receive a separate email from
PROCTOR U (firstname.lastname@example.org) for the test scheduling. Your TEST INSTRUCTION email will also include a sample test so you can familiarize yourself with the process.
At the time of your schedule test, the PROCTOR will unlock your test and allow you to complete it, AFTER you have provided the proper identification verification.
