THE CATEGORY MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION RECOGNIZES THREE COMPANIES IN THE 2020 HIGHER EDUCATION KEY CONTRIBUTOR AWARDS.
February 25, 2020, Dallas Texas – The Association for Retail and Consumer Professionals (ARCP), the parent company of the Category Management Association (CMA) and the Shopper Insights Management Association (SIMA), recognized three companies for their exceptional contributions to category management and shopper insights education during the 2020 CMA+SIMA Annual Conference.
The three companies – Walgreens, PEPSICO and The Hershey Company – were recognized for their support of the 2020 CMA Student Talent Exposition Program. These companies provided the subject content and coaching for the students to excel in their assignment.
Accepting the 2020 Key Contributor Awards for their companies were:
· Dr. Thomas Burkemper, Sr. Director, DMM – Beverages & Perishables at Walgreens
· Michael Gervasio, Vice President of Category Leadership at PEPSICO
· David Nolen, Vice President Category Management & Shopper Insights at The Hershey Company
The 2020 CMA Student Talent Exposition sought to expose the Category Management and Shopper Insights Communities to the high caliber of student talent being educated at CMA Member Schools. Students from the following schools participated in the inaugural program exposition: DePaul University, Ryerson University, Texas Tech University, University of Texas at Tyler, Xavier University, Western Michigan University and the University of Arkansas.
Students from collaborating CMA Members Schools were divided into two groups. Both groups of students presented solutions for category management and shopper marketing opportunities for confections and salty snack categories at Walgreens stores. The groups presented case studies dealing with space management opportunities for Frito Lay and front-end performance for Hershey.
“I believe the case studies presented by the students indicated extraordinary preparation, outstanding knowledge, and the ability to tell a story effectively. These are key characteristics for students to be work-ready when they begin their new jobs. The CMA and member schools are quite proud of these students,” said Dan Strunk, Sr. Vice President of Education and Certification for CMA and SIMA.
